Detoxification - WHAT, WHY, & HOW

Detoxification

  1. What is it?

  2. Why do I want to detox?

  3. How do I do it?

Eating healthy is a lifestyle, not a fad or a quick fix. It impacts the Mind & the Body. The body achieves what the mind believes. BELIEVE you are healthy and can get healthier and healthier!

Detoxification is PART of a healthy lifestyle. It is on-going. However there are different intensities/levels of detoxification. The body will NOT detoxify all at once. It detoxifies in layers…like an onion.*

On average you will detox for 10 days and then plateau. As you continue through this cycle, your body will detox at deeper and deeper layers. Every layer of detoxification will take you to a new stage of health. Over time and with consistency, it will eventually even out.

The Cycle of Detoxification

So WHAT is detoxification?

Detoxification is simply the body emptying out the "trash" (removing the toxins) from the body. Some examples of toxins:

  • pesticides, added hormones, antibiotics, fluoride, fake sugars such as aspartame, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, artificial colors, and GMOs

Toxins can come from the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and what we put on our skin. The more "trash" (toxins) we can get rid of, the better our mind and body will be able to do its work! Can you imagine trying to cook dinner in a kitchen that hasn't been cleaned for a month? Talk about stress! That's how our bodies feel when we ignore them. Look at the two pictures below, which one…

  • Makes you feel better…?
  • Could you be more efficient in…?
  • Would you feel less stressed in…?
  • Drains you…?
  • Energizes you…?
OR

I will assume you picked the second picture as the one that makes you feel better and more energized! This is just an example of why eating healthy is a lifestyle and not a quick fix. You clean your kitchen in some form or fashion everyday — whether it is simply wiping the counter tops or it is a deeper clean. We need to treat our bodies the same way; with that same intent of continually cleaning. Sometimes cleaning will be mild and other times it will be more intense.*

Our bodies are designed to go towards good health, just like a car is designed to drive. If you use the correct tools and take care of the car, it will keep driving good because that is what it is designed to do. Likewise with your body, if you take care of the body, it will keep running towards health.*

The body was made to naturally rid itself of toxins. However if we overload the body with toxins, it doesn't know what to do with all the incoming toxins, so it begins to store the toxins. The body cannot eliminate the toxins as fast as they are being consumed.*
So HOW do we detox?

By taking OUT foods that place stress on the body and then putting IN nutrient dense foods full of H.O.P.E (Hormones, Oxygen, Phytonutrients, Enzymes). The body now feels "safe" to start releasing stored toxins and doing what it was naturally designed to do: running towards health, getting healthier and healthier.*

Three ways to take Stress OFF the body
  • GO ORGANIC
    • 100% Organic
      • Free of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, added hormones, antibiotics, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, artificial colors, radiation, solvents, GMOs, etc
      • More nutrients are present when grown organically.
  • RAW FOODS
    • Digestive Enzymes and other nutrients are still intact.
      • Digestive Enzymes help the body to absorb what we are consuming.
    • A Raw food means it is still in its raw form and has not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit or 40.5 degrees Celsius.
    • Examples:
  • STAY HYDRATED with Clean Water
    • Aim for 1/2 your body weight in ounces per day of Purified water.*
      • Water is the most common molecule in the human body and plays a role in nearly every chemical reaction in the body.*
      • It aids in digestion/absorption of food and regulates body temperature.*
      • It carries nutrients to the cells and is the primary source of toxin removal.*
      • The liver uses water to metabolize fat thus the more water available to the body the more fat is shed.*

Pick ONE tool to add to your toolbox and try that for 21 days! Take things a step at a time. Remember, a journey of a 1000 miles, begins with a single step!
